San Pedro Sula to Copan

Today we will have a half day tour of San Pedro Sula, known as the industrial capital of Honduras, a modern bustling city that treasures its rich history and tradition of the banana emporium era, take a scenic drive through commercial and residential areas along with a visits to the local artisans market and museum of anthropology. In the afternoon, we depart for the Maya Ruins of Copan to arrive later in the evening, overnight at Copan

Copan

In the morning, we will have a guided tour of the main archaeological site that features the hieroglyphic staircase, the ball court and the famous stelas; in the afternoon, learn about the various artifacts and art work carved in stone at the Museum of Maya sculpture and the Museum of Archaeology, where you will see a recreation of the Rosalila Temple in the tunnels, evening is at your disposal to stroll around the cobble stoned streets of the town of Copan and visit its numerous restaurants, coffee and souvenir shops, overnight at Copan

Copan to Gracias

No visit to Copan can be complete without a close encounter with the quarters of the royal families at “Las Sepulturas” site
; we will then head to colonial town of Gracias, upon arrival, we will have a walking tour of the town, visiting its colonial churches, the Real Audiencia de los Confines, its central plaza and San Cristobal fort; evening is at leisure, overnight at Gracias

Gracias

At 8:00 AM, we will take a dirt road and drive through the mountains to visit La Campa and San Manuel Colohete, both small towns where we will enjoy a colonial environment and visit its churches, considered as very important monuments in the area; we will return to Gracias mid-afternoon for overnight, evening free

Gracias to Tegucigalpa

Today, we depart for Tegucigalpa, the capital city of Honduras for a mid-afternoon arrival, along the way we will visit the colonial former capital city Comayagua, including the cathedral which holds the oldest functioning clock in the Americas and the Museum of Anthropology; overnight at Tegucigalpa.

Tegucigalpa

Tegucigalpa is not only the capital city of Honduras but further a colonial town of abundant history, we will enjoy a morning tour of both modern and colonial districts, the Basilica of Suyapa and a sweeping view of the metropolitan area at the foot of the giant figure of Christ located at Picacho hill. We will finish our tour visiting two charming old mining colonial towns, Santa Lucia and Valle de Angeles that are home to the local artisans school and many souvenir shops, giving you the opportunity to acquire all the gifts you need to take back home, evening in town is free, overnight at Tegucigalpa
