Arrive at San Pedro Sula, your guide will meet you at the airport and drive you directly to La Ceiba for overnight.
At 9:30 AM, we will take a flight from La Ceiba to Brus Laguna, upon arrival, we will transfer by bus or truck from the Landing Strip to Brus Downtown and meet your boatman at Bruce peer located at the end of the road coming from the landing strip. Cross the Lagoon in about 30 min. and continue through man made and natural channels up to the Miskito village of Raista located on the Northeast shore of Ibans Lagoon. Your air arrival in La Moskitia allows you to take it easy and enjoy the whole afternoon bathing on the Caribbean, going for a sightseeing walk or exploring the indigenous Miskito villages of Belen or Cocobila.
After breakfast, you will take a motorboat trip navigating along channels and mangrove lagoons to reach Rio Platano riverbed. From here you will continue upstream to Las Marias. You will often cross paths with Miskito people carrying their agricultural goods along the river. The whole stretch along the river is a very good place for bird watching.
After you eat your breakfast (7:00AM) you will be led on foot by your local guide through Las Marías (40 min.) eventually arriving at Batiltuk. You will meet up with the rest of the crew of a dugout canoe (pushed with poles and paddles) which will take you upstream Rio Plátano to reach the Trail of Kuyusty. Here you will begin a two hour hike into the rain forest untll we reach an observation tower with panoramic views of the jungle near the end of the trail. After lunch at Waikatara, a Pech farm, the trip continues upriver for another 50 min. until you reach the Petroglyphs of Walpaulbansirpe. The trip back to Las Marias will be about 2 hours of enjoyable drifting down river. Soon after arrival it will be time for you to eat a hot dinner at the hostel and enjoy your second night of rest at the Pech- Miskito town near the Platano River.
Las Marias to Brus Laguna
After breakfast you start your trip back to Brus Laguna, taking around five hours for the whole stretch. Fresh cooked lunch will be available at your last Mosquitia destination upon arrival at the village. Go hike in the afternoon around this Miskito fishing village At night time, caimans can be observed raising their red shining eyes above the water level when you shoot them with your flashlight
Brus Laguna to San Pedro Sula
We will have our last breakfast in La Mosquitia and get ready to catch the bus or car to the landing strip at 10 am. The aircraft to La Ceiba will take off at around 11.00 a.m., upon arrival we will drive you to San Pedro Sula for overnight.
At the appropriate time, transfer to the airport to catch your international departure flight.
